Montague Police Logs: Nov. 20 to Nov. 26, 2023

Monday, Nov. 20

12:41 p.m. — Patrol officer approached near Seventh Street and Avenue A by a woman who stated she was threatened with a knife by a male party. Reporting party took a statement form, but did not want an officer to speak to the other person at that time. She was further advised of options.

4:39 p.m. — Caller on Avenue A reports receiving a scam call from someone who claimed to be from their bank. Reporting party hung up, called their bank, and had their account frozen and a new card issued. No information had been given and there were no fraudulent transactions.

Thursday, Nov. 23

11:54 a.m. — Disturbance reported on Old Greenfield Road. Caller requests an officer to help diffuse threats and arguments with their mother and her partner. Mother and partner left willingly. Involved parties were advised of various options.

4:25 p.m. — Caller from the area of the bike path/Greenfield Road seeks assistance with a stray dog that appears to be malnourished, with no tags and no collar. Black dog with long legs. Animal control officer was unavailable, but the dog was able to be leashed by another officer, who transported the dog to the Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital in South Deerfield.

Friday, Nov. 24

8:49 a.m. — Caller requests police investigate suspicious activity in the woods behind South High Street. Reporting party noticed a green tarp and was unsure if someone could be living under it. Concerned about grandchildren’s safety because the tarp is by the walking path and can be seen from their residence. After investigating, police advised the reporting party no one was living in or around the canopy.

12:21 p.m. — Illegal dumping reported near Lake Pleasant. Message left for the Department of Public Works.

1:48 p.m. — Safety hazard reported on Plains Road. Possible hunting/shooting from vehicles parked in front of reporting party’s house. Environmental Police will be monitoring the area.

4:04 p.m. — James Orlando Sanchez, 32, of Second Street in Turners Falls, was arrested on G Street on multiple warrants.

Saturday, Nov. 25

10:26 a.m. — Caller from Rastallis Street requests an officer review footage of two men trying to break into their garage overnight. Did not appear that anything was taken at that time.

Sunday, Nov. 26

11:18 a.m. — Caller on Third Street reports a suspicious person is outside yelling and making threats toward someone inside the building. Gone upon police arrival.

11:56 a.m. — Caller from Connecticut River Liquors on Avenue A reports an individual is threatening them with a stick and breaking items in the store. Kriston E. Messman, 45, of Avenue A in Turners Falls, was arrested on charges of vandalizing property, disorderly conduct, assault with a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest.
