Montague Police Logs: May 16 to June 1, 2021

Montague, May 16

1:55 p.m. — A Bridge Street caller reports that a male and female just chased her children (14 and 16 years old) home. Caller advised this is a continuation of an incident that took place a few days ago. Caller advised the parties just drove by the house a few times and believes they are about to drive by again. Caller and her family advised to wait for officers inside the house. Simultaneously copied via simulcast that the other half of the incident contacted Shelburne Control describing a different version of events. Stated one of the parties threatened them with a bat. Units advised. Erving Police Department en route and will reached out to Montague Police after speaking with the caller. Parties on both sides are going to try to stay away from each other.

Montague, May 17

8:36 p.m. — A Montague City Road caller states that her two sons, ages 16 and 18, are fighting and have broken some items in the house. Situation mediated. They will deal with the destroyed property on their own.

Montague, May 18

12:12 p.m. — Lady Killigrew Cafe employee on Old Greenfield Road states there is an intoxicated man screaming inside, refusing to leave. Robert Mamahon, 54, of East Chestnut Hill Road in Montague, was arrested for disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Montague, May 19

3:52 p.m. — Caller advising that nobody is stopping for the new sign stop signs on the canal bridge. Officer Michael Sevene advised.

7:41 p.m. — A Montague City Road caller requests an officer speak with her downstairs neighbor who has been taking pictures and videos of her children while they are outside. Caller states there is an ongoing issue with the neighbor calling in noise complaints about her children. Officer Joshua Dobosz spoke with both parties. Man admitted to taking the photos, said he wanted proof that the children are unsupervised while outside. Agreed to stop taking photos.

Montague, May 20

2:44 p.m. — Miguel D. Russell III, 21, of Fourth Street in Turners Falls, was arrested for intimidating a witness/juror/police/court official and assault and battery (domestic).

7:25 p.m. — Caller at the intersection of L and Second streets reported he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle. Caller stated he was OK and did not need medical services, but would like an officer to take the report.

Montague, May 21

6:03 a.m. — Montague Police Department receives two calls from a man playing a recording about God.

12:32 p.m. — Officer Joshua Dobosz reporting a truck on fire in the area of Millers Falls Road and Lake Pleasant Road. Shelburne Control advised. Dobosz advised fire is out, not threatening any structures. Turners Falls Fire Department still responding.

Montague, May 22

9:54 a.m. — A Federal Street caller reports a bear attacked one of her animals.

12:27 p.m. — Caller reporting someone broke into his unlocked vehicle within the last hour while parked on Migratory Way. Caller is home now. Caller’s phone was the only item taken, to his knowledge.

Montague, May 23

8:32 a.m. — Caller called twice, playing religious messages and kept repeating the word “terrorists” over the recordings.

12:21 p.m. — A Turners Falls Road caller reports three loud booms coming from the house across the street. Officers advised source was a small novelty cannon.

4 p.m. — A High Street caller states a medium-size tree has fallen across both lanes of travel; no wires seen. DPW foreman notified.

Montague, May 24

4:23 p.m. — Caller reporting a two-car accident, states he is not injured and does not believe the female in the other car is injured either but he is not sure. Officer Daniel Miner and Officer James Ruddock advised; Turners Falls Fire Department responding from previous medical call. Rau’s requested to tow both vehicles. Both drivers transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center. Citation issued to driver of Nissan for failure to use care in stopping.

Montague, May 26

4:16 p.m. — Two-vehicle accident at Miller Falls Road and Cross Street. Fluids; airbag deployment. One person with burn to her arm from the airbag. Shelburne Control and police units advised. Rau’s requested to tow one vehicle.

6:17 p.m. — Report of smoke coming from the top of a utility pole on Paradise Parkway. Shelburne Control advised.

Montague, May 27

6:55 a.m. — Police Department receives call of a recording playing on the other end of the line. Caller just kept saying, “You evil c***.” No other voice response.

Montague, May 28

7:18 a.m. — Police Department receives multiple calls. On the first call, caller would only say “vaccine.” In the subsequent calls, caller played recordings/podcasts or rambled, calling cops “pigs,” talking about vaccines, and making inappropriate comments toward dispatch. Seven calls received.

Montague, May 29

6:57 a.m. — Police Department gets a call. No voice contact. Caller played Celtic music close to the phone speaker.

4:28 p.m. — A Center Street caller reports a tree leaning on electrical wires. The wire is smoking and now appears to be on fire. Montague Center Fire Department toned out by Shelburne Control. Eversource notified by Shelburne Control.

Montague, June 1

11:22 a.m. — Report of man kicking a dog repeatedly on Montague City Road. The dog is squealing. Reported to be in progress. Two men working on a vehicle with Connecticut license plates. Caller called back advising both men left with the dog in the vehicle. Animal control officer advised Officer Joshua Dobosz made contact with the caller.

5:40 p.m. — Caller reported a vehicle was tailgating her all the way down the mountain from Greenfield onto Canal Street, then illegally passed her and flipped her off. Caller stated the driver is in a gold car that is currently parked at the tech school.
