Montague Police Logs: June 24 to June 30, 2024

12:58 p.m. — Walk-in to the station reports a vehicle was driving very closely behind her on Millers Falls Road and passed her, causing her to almost run off the road into the woods. She followed the vehicle to the car dealership across from the Water Department, where a male party wearing a purple shirt denied he did it before speeding off. Involved male called in stating the reporting party was yelling at him and he wasn’t sure why because he had been parked at the dealership for some time. He said he wasn’t sure what she was saying due to a language barrier, and he got nervous and drove away as he felt he was being threatened. Incident was referred to an officer.
2:11 p.m. — Officer is attempting to stop a vehicle on Turners Falls Road. Following it into Greenfield. Vehicle was stopped by Greenfield Police. Aidan William Bilodeau, 21, of Unity Street in Turners Falls, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration.
11:04 a.m. — Caller reports a black Jeep was crossing the white lines several times on Unity Street. Driver was found to be avoiding potholes.
5:51 p.m. — Caller at the Turners Falls Post Office on Avenue A states someone went into his locked car and stole a bag that contained bank statements and other important letters. Caller reports someone has a duplicate key fob to his car, so he has a hunch who is responsible. Report taken.
10:29 p.m. — Reporting party states a dog got loose and she was trying to return it to the owner on Vladish Avenue. When she got there, the door was open, window was broken, all the lights were on and no one answered. She is nervous someone possibly broke into the house. Officers advised. Male party and his wife who live at the location called in stating it’s not funny for kids to call 911 when there is clearly no emergency. Resident states there is no broken window at his house, the door was cracked open because he was on his porch and there was no need for three officers to respond to his house. Would like officers to go back and explain the use of 911 to the caller. Dog was returned.
4:20 p.m. — Reporting party on Fifth Street reports a smell of gas coming from the property she was walking by. Officer advising it’s not a gas smell, but there is an odor in the area, possibly marijuana.
6:34 p.m. — Caller states the door to the Millers Falls Library was left open. She is unsure if it is an accident or if someone is inside, but it is past the library’s open hours. Officer walked through the library, all seemed fine. Back door secured.
10:46 a.m. — Caller reports his electric bike was stolen from outside Shady Glen Diner on Avenue A. Bike was black with a crate on it, his cellphone was with the bike. Unable to access cameras on the business. Officers advised to be on the lookout. Male party brought in a picture of the bike.

4:07 p.m. — Report of an injured bird on Migratory Way that was in the road and is now sleeping on the reporting party’s leg. Caller planned to leave the bird nearby out of the road. No police service necessary.
1:38 a.m. — Reporting party states she can hear a fire alarm sounding in the area of Grove, Chestnut and Unity streets, and it has been going off for 20 minutes. Resident on Chestnut Street states it’s her fire alarm but there is no smoke or fire.
11:22 a.m. — Employee from Food City on Avenue A reports a recent shoplifting incident that is on video. Report taken.
10:29 p.m. — Suspicious person reported at The Rendezvous on Third Street. Caller states someone came out from behind the building wearing no pants, just a military-style jacket, and headed through the parking lot toward the bar. Officer unable to locate.
1:29 p.m. — Caller on Canal Street is concerned about a red truck driving around with a few cars following it. Vehicle occupants were looking for a place to swim. They were advised that they were on private property and given some other options.
