Montague Police Logs: June 2 to June 13, 2021

Montague, June 2

7:30 a.m. — Multiple calls reporting a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Unity and Grove streets. Two passing drivers and one involved party all advised negative for injuries, smoke, fluids and airbag deployment. Debris in the road. Officer Joshua Dobosz requests Turners Falls Fire Department for traffic control. Dobosz advised to disregard; State Police on scene. Caller called back advising his wife and son are complaining of injuries.

12:37 p.m. — A Third Street caller reports a hit-and-run to her vehicle in her driveway, suspects one of the Verizon trucks involved with pole work downtown yesterday hit it. Caller advised there is damage and paint transfer on her vehicle. Caller has to leave for an appointment at 1 p.m., will be home around 1:30 p.m. Officer Joshua Dobosz advised to have the caller contact police when she is back home.

Montague, June 3

3:53 p.m. — A Greenfield Road caller has several raccoons on his property he would like help relocating.

Montague, June 4

6:08-6:16 a.m. — Dispatcher receives harassing phone calls.

9:15 a.m. — Report of a bear wandering between houses on Turnpike Road. Animal control officer off today. Nearest environmental protection officer is in Pittsfield on another bear call. Officer Cody Wells advises the bear has moved up to the wooded area by Laurel Lane. Call placed to Turners Falls High School’s school resource officer to advise.

Montague, June 5

6:22-6:29 a.m. — Dispatcher receives harassing phone calls.

Montague, June 7

6:36 a.m. — Report of a wire hanging with a 1-inch metal cylinder on it, has been hanging there since at least yesterday. Shelburne Control advised.

12:20 p.m. — Multiple calls reporting a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Avenue A and Seventh Street. Parties arguing in the middle of the intersection. One vehicle airbag deployment, no smoke/fluids reported. One party with a scratch on her arm but her spouse declined medical attention on her behalf. One caller reported a young child sitting on a park bench in Peskeomskut Park with an adult but did not know if they were involved. Officers and Shelburne Control advised. Upon arrival, Officer Joshua Dobosz requests AMR ambulance for one juvenile for evaluation. Turners Falls Fire Department ambulance responding along with an engine. Rau’s requested to tow one vehicle. Dobosz providing courtesy transport to Randall Road.

10:08 p.m. — Caller reporting a single-vehicle accident on L Street. Vehicle hit parked cars. No injuries reported. Caller advised driver walked to his house, was shaken up. Rau’s towed the vehicle.

Montague, June 8

6:07-6:08 a.m. — Dispatcher receives harassing phone calls.

3:23 p.m. — Caller on Old Northfield Road reporting four vehicles drag racing.

Montague, June 9

6:35 a.m. — Report of two hypodermic needles in front of the chain link fence on Fourth Street. Removed.

Montague, June 12

6:34-6:35 a.m. — Dispatcher receives harassing phone calls.

3:36 p.m. — Caller outside the Great Falls Discovery Center reporting he locked his bicycle to a sign this morning at 8, and when he returned just now to get it, it was gone. States the bike is a black Trek Bike. He will be looking downtown for it.

Montague, June 13

7:39-7:45 a.m. — Dispatcher receives harassing phone calls.

8:48 a.m. — Owner of Tangible Bliss reports breaking-and-entering. Statement form dropped off. Owner will contact police when it is completed.

9:05 a.m. — Report of what appears to be a rifle, with a scope, laying at the end of a driveway on Newton Street. Officer Nathan Pervere located the item, advised it is a pellet gun, attempting to locate the owner. Owner unknown. Pellet gun taken for safe-keeping by Pervere.
