Montague Police Logs: July 29 to Aug. 3, 2024

Monday, July 29

7:27 a.m. — Walk-in to the station reports a tractor-trailer truck is parking in front of their house on Park Street and “idling” very loudly. Truck owner was notified of the complaint. He states he will move and if he can’t find a suitable place, he can shut off the equipment that makes noises.

12:26 p.m. — Driver concerned about really high grass/weeds on the corner on Turners Falls Road making it hard for drivers to see around when pulling out. Resident advised of the complaint and said they would take care of it.

7:25 p.m. — Reporting party from Elm Street states she just got a call from someone saying they are with the police and looking for donations. Reporting party states she didn’t give any information, but wanted police to be aware it was happening.

Tuesday, July 30

5:28 p.m. — Reporting party from Grove Street states he has a doorbell camera and is a couple hours away from home but he can see someone has parked a small excavator on his front lawn. Spoke to the owner of the excavator who advises they are working on the water line in that area in the morning. Excavator moved to correct address, owner will fix the lawn where is was parked.

5:41 p.m. — Reporting party states there is an older male that is yelling at juveniles and spitting on them at Peskeomskut Park. Juveniles are under the gazebo and could be heard talking about beating up the male that is at St. Stanislaus Society. Received a call from a male party stating the kids just threatened him, stating they were going to kill him. Officer advised. Peace restored.

Wednesday, July 31

8:55 a.m. — Employee from Turners Falls High School requesting assistance removing a parent who is being aggressive and making threats in the lobby. School was advised to get a trespass order against the woman.

9:04 p.m. — Reporting party reports her neighbors on Third Street have been playing loud music for more than an hour and she cannot get her children to sleep. Officer advised. Second caller reporting similar. Music has been turned off, peace restored.

11:31 p.m. — Caller from Third Street states a male party is outside her building with a baseball bat that he keeps hitting against the ground. Caller states the individual is directly outside her window at this time and states he is laughing. Caller is concerned the male may harm the next person who walks by the area. Officers advised. All quiet upon arrival, nobody seen in the area.

10:18 a.m. — Reporting party states a male broke in a couple weeks ago and was selling the stolen goods out in front of the gas station on Third Street. Reporting party states there is an employee who works at the gas station that was a witness and is willing to speak with officers.

8:18 p.m. — Reporting party states a male party has his hand shoved into a container of some sort and is wandering around the Central Street neighborhood asking people to pull his hand out. Officer advised. Officer requesting EMS. Male party has his fingers stuck in the can. AMR transporting the individual to the hospital with officer following.

Friday, Aug. 2

8:13 a.m. — Walk-in to the station reports that last night at around 9 p.m. he was followed by a Nissan for more than 30 minutes. Vehicle pulled into the Police Station parking lot honking the horn. Reporting party is wondering if video footage could be reviewed. Officer advising it was two females following him. Reporting party was advised of his options. No need to review video footage.

8:33 a.m. — Reporting party states an injured goose has been in the field at Sheffield Elementary School since yesterday. It is where the white busses park. Officer advised. Animal control officer advising the goose has an injured leg but is fine to fly.

11:54 a.m. — Reporting party from L Street states she is at her daughter’s house and someone just took her daughter’s kayak and is in the water with it. It’s a yellow kayak. They cannot see the man anymore. Officer advising he is speaking to the male who took the kayak. He needed it to get his dog out of the water. Officer also advising not as reported. Male knows the owner of the kayak, they were able to work out the situation.

7:40 p.m. — Report of six to 10 individuals trashing Peskeomskut Park. States they are throwing trash all over and making graffiti. Youths cleaned up their mess and were moved along.

Saturday, Aug. 3

6:55 p.m. — Reporting party from Federal Street states that while she was not home today, a neighbor who came to check on her horses informed her that buckets that were left by the barn had been moved close to her house. Reporting party is concerned that someone may have been trying to look in her windows, states she has had issues recently with people sitting in her driveway for a couple of hours. Her neighbor told her the doors are still locked and the windows are intact. Reporting party requesting extra patrols and to speak with an officer. Services rendered.
