Montague Police Logs: Feb. 20 to March 6, 2023

Monday, Feb. 20

6:44 p.m. — Abandoned 911 call from Turners Falls Road. Upon callback, reporting party states he saw a car at a stop sign and heard a 12-year-old boy scream for help. Reporting party believes the vehicle was a Jeep Wrangler, last seen heading toward Scotty’s Convenience Store. Officers checked the area but found no vehicle matching the description.

8:00 p.m. — Caller on I Street requests an officer drive through the Patch neighborhood because he saw a group of kids walking through the alleyways earlier and wants to make sure everyone was safe. Gone on arrival.

Tuesday, Feb. 21

7:09 a.m. — Caller at the General Pierce Bridge states a large Ford truck ran the red light and forced multiple vehicles to back off the bridge for him to come through. Caller said the driver was honking his horn aggressively and nearly drove into the barriers.

Thursday, Feb. 23

12:18 a.m. — Fire Department received a call from a reporting party on Fourth Street stating there was a smell of antifreeze coming from the apartment across the hall. Caller believed the neighbors might be producing drugs. Fire Department was unable to detect any odor.

Saturday, Feb. 25

11:39 a.m. — Four callers report a 5-ton box truck was trying to turn onto Grand Avenue from Millers Falls Road and got stuck. Truck was blocking traffic. Truck was stuck on a curb and the tires were not making contact with the road. Rose Ledge Co. was requested for assistance but the vehicle managed to pull away. Roadway cleared.

Sunday, Feb. 26

6:32 p.m. — Caller on East Main Street states there’s a man outside her apartment building who has been sleeping in his car over the weekend and is now in the middle of the road screaming. A second caller said a male party ran out in front of her car asking for money and demanded she call the police or the FBI to have them help him. Officer reports the individual, near Carroll’s Market, is in an Avis rental car from Orlando, Florida. Party was moved along.

Monday, Feb. 27

3:35 p.m. — Caller at Keith Apartments on Canal Street requests officers because her neighbor is screaming. Officer advised water is coming through the ceiling. Fire Department and building maintenance were contacted. Upstairs apartment is flooded.

Wednesday, March 1

2:27 p.m. — Caller reports a two-vehicle crash on Wendell Road with injuries and possible entrapment. EMS, Fire Department requested. Both vehicles were towed by Rau’s Sunoco Service. All parties denied medical attention. A call was later received from a possible witness who stated a small, possibly silver car went “flying” past her house just before the accident. Caller believed three people were inside.

3:34 p.m. — Caller at the intersection of Routes 46 and 63 states her vehicle was rear-ended. When the other involved driver went to her car to get her license, she took off instead. Caller said the driver had a black Subaru-type vehicle that took off up North Leverett Road, possibly toward Wendell. Unable to locate.

Monday, March 6

12:29 a.m. — Caller at Between the Uprights on Avenue A states she was assaulted at the bar and she knows who the man is but can’t pronounce his name. Caller said she was not injured, denied medical attention. A Greenfield police officer assisted.
