Montague Police Logs: Feb. 20 to Feb. 26, 2024

Tuesday, Feb. 20

9:29 a.m. — Walk-in from James Street states a neighbor walks his dog without a leash. While she was on her deck, the dog came running up and jumped on her. Walk-in recently had knee surgery and was very upset. Owner was not around when this happened. Reporting party requests the owner be located and advised of the leash law.

12:08 p.m. — Reporting party would like it on record that the boyfriend of the female who lives in the apartment next to her at Moltenbrey Apartments on Avenue A was yelling at her for no reason and calling her awful names, which made her very fearful. Services rendered.

4:10 p.m. — Caller states he was driving over the Turners Falls-Gill Bridge and noticed a large piece of metal sticking up. Caller reports it could pop a tire. Officer unable to locate.

Wednesday, Feb. 21

5:06 a.m. — Caller reports “a piece of metal” is sticking out of the expansion joint on the Turners Falls-Gill Bridge. Reporting party states the metal is about 3 to 4 inches long and could puncture a tire. Officer located a crack in the expansion joint. With vehicles passing, prior damage causes the metal joint to rise and fall. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation was contacted.

8:09 a.m. — Employee from Turners Falls High School discovered some drug paraphernalia in one of the school bathrooms.

3:27 p.m. — Caller states there are people in a South High Street backyard who aren’t supposed to be there. Has happened in the past. Officer advised. Individuals were gone on arrival.

9:06 p.m. — Caller states a suspicious male party was pacing in front of the doorway at the Black Cow Burger Bar on Avenue A. When she came out to lock up, he ran off toward Fifth Street. He then came running back and is pacing between the doorways again. Officer found no one in the area matching the description.

Thursday, Feb. 22

12:36 a.m. — Caller reports a loose pit bull in the area of the Millers Falls Library. Dog gets nervous but seems friendly. Reporting party later called back and advised the dog’s owner arrived.

12:24 p.m. — Shoplifting reported at Food City on Avenue A. Employee reports two females stole a stuffed animal and some medication. Unknown direction of travel.

Friday, Feb. 23

5:27 a.m. — Reporting party from Cumberland Farms on Montague City Road is requesting a female be removed from the store as she is causing a disturbance. Gone upon officer’s arrival.

8:31 a.m. — Department of Public Works employee advises a male had climbed a light post in front of Carroll’s Market to plug in his electric vehicle. Officer advised him that there are vehicle charging stations.

9:32 a.m. — Reporting party from Power Town Apartments on Avenue A states that another tenant stole money from her by using her debit card without permission.

2:35 p.m. — Caller on Fourth Street reports someone kicked his door in and stole his two dogs. Officer attempted to make contact with the other involved party on 11th Street, but they were not at that location. Caller later reported he banged on his upstairs neighbor’s door until she answered and the neighbor stated she saw the involved male party leave with the dogs the night before.

3:57 p.m. — Caller from Greenfield Savings Bank on Avenue A states there is a male party who is attempting to cash a fake check. Employee did call the customer to verify if they wrote the check and they had not. Police located the individual outside the Post Office.

4:12 p.m. — Caller reports seeing two teenagers vandalizing the bridge on Old Greenfield Road. Gone upon officer’s arrival. Officer didn’t observe any vandalism.

Saturday, Feb. 24

11:04 a.m. — Caller from Old Greenfield Road reports his mother is throwing things around the house and is trying to start an argument with him. Mother was just cleaning, no criminal actions occurred. Party advised of options.

Monday, Feb. 26

4:51 a.m. — Caller from Cumberland Farms on Montague City Road would like a female party removed. Caller states the female pulled down her pants and was urinating on the floor. Female party left upon officers’ arrival.
