Montague Police Logs: Feb. 12 to Feb. 19, 2024

Monday, Feb. 12

11:44 a.m. – Caller from Union Street states her dog was attacked by another dog that was not on a leash. Animal control officer made contact with the dog owner and he was cooperative. He was advised of laws and the complaint. Reporting party came over while the animal control officer was there; the two dog owners spoke and will work things out on their own.

2:21 p.m. – Caller from Montague City Road reports a three-car crash. No apparent injuries.

Tuesday, Feb. 13

2:53 a.m. – Commercial burglar alarm activated at Family Dollar on Avenue A. Area searched, building secure.

2:11 p.m. – Motorist flagged down an officer at the Nouria gas station on Third Street to report the presence of a couple of Hispanic teens with firearms at the gas station. After speaking with the juveniles, they did not have any weapons on them, but stated the involved male was making threats toward them and made them think he had a firearm on him. Officers located the involved male outside his residence, who denied involvement and became highly agitated toward officers. Underlying mental health issues possible.

9:36 p.m. – Reporting party states there is a vehicle in the parking lot of the dental office on Dell Street with its lights on. Vehicle has been there for more than an hour. Caller says they have had problems with drugs there in the past. Officer spoke with a male in the vehicle, who said he was waiting for his girlfriend who lives in the house on the corner.

Wednesday, Feb. 14

4:29 a.m. – Caller from Keith Apartments on Canal Street reports a female party is currently yelling, screaming and hitting the walls. Officer advises all is quiet upon arrival. No answer at the door.

9:44 a.m. – Reporting party from Emond Avenue would like it on record that her ex-boyfriend has let himself into her house on at least three separate occasions. There have been no disturbances and he has left without incident, but she has asked him to stop and he continues to do it.

Thursday, Feb. 15

4:17 a.m. – Caller reports a female party in a Third Street apartment building is yelling loudly and causing a disturbance. Officer advises while on scene, no noise was heard. Multiple attempts were made to speak with the female. No answer at door.

2:33 p.m. – Reporting party has safety concerns about a large SUV that has been sitting for more than a week with a wheel missing and being propped up with a tire jack in the public lot on Fourth Street. Vehicle is well propped up. Owner was on scene advising it would be repaired the following day.

7:23 p.m. – Caller from Avenue A reports his neighbor attempted to hit him. Caller states the male party then told him he had five minutes to get back into his apartment or he was going to come beat him up. Caller does not feel safe entering the building again and would like an officer to come mediate the situation. Officers spoke with both parties. Reporting party will stay in his apartment for the night. Involved male is with his granddaughter who will stay with him for the night as well.

Friday, Feb. 16

11:14 a.m. – Shirley Harrell, 60, of Third Street in Turners Falls, was arrested on a warrant on Third Street.

12:44 p.m. – Caller requests a call from an officer to discuss her tenant/neighbor whose drinking continually gets worse and she’s feeling unsafe with his behaviors. Officer advised. Reporting party was advised of her options.

2:39 p.m. – Caller from Third Street states five bags of cans were stolen off her porch and she has it on camera. She said she knows who has taken them and would like an officer to come as this person has been stealing things frequently. Officer advised. Caller called back and stated that she checked her camera again and the same male party came back to her porch again at 4:30 p.m. to steal another bag of cans.

4:57 p.m. – Caller from Food City on Avenue A states that the party who stole the cans off her friend’s porch is at the store now. Officer made contact with the male party, advised him of the complaint and advised him to stay away from the original reporting party’s property.

Saturday, Feb. 17

12:44 p.m. – Emma M. McDonough, 23, of Meadow View Road in Greenfield, was arrested on a warrant on Avenue A.

6:56 p.m. – Reporting party from Power Town Apartments on Avenue A states a male party was outside on the corner threatening and harassing him and his friends. They are inside the package store now. Reporting party called back stating that his friend was assaulted by the male party that was harassing them. Officer attempted to make contact with the involved male party, but he did not come to the door. Caller and his friends were advised of their options.

Monday, Feb. 19

2:14 p.m. – Caller on Bridge Street states the downstairs neighbor is pounding on the walls and making threats toward him. Caller was advised of his options.
