Montague Police Logs: Aug. 4 to Aug. 9, 2024

Sunday, Aug. 4

10:12 a.m. — Report of a sick fox on the edge of Dry Hill Road. Officer reports the fox was not acting unusual and ran off.

3:45 p.m. — Reporting party states a culvert on Wendell Road is blocked and the excess water is causing the road to erode. Water is flowing over the southbound lane, but is not eroding the road and is not a traffic hazard. Department of Public Works advised.

Monday, Aug. 5

9:17 a.m. — Shawn E. Greaney, 38, of Belchertown, was arrested on a warrant in the Food City parking lot on Avenue A.

10:01 a.m. — Reporting party from Sunset Drive states her smoke detector in the basement is sounding and she is looking for someone to change the battery. Call passed along to the Fire Department.

Tuesday, Aug. 6

12:14 p.m. — Dalton John Stevens, 33, of Main Road in Gill, was arrested on a warrant at Third Street and Avenue A.

5:46 p.m. — Caller states there are three or four female teenagers yelling and fighting in the parking lot next to Unity Skatepark on First Street. Officer advises the females are all set, no issues.

Wednesday, Aug. 7

3:51 p.m. — Report of a vehicle parked partially in the roadway on a corner on Hillside Road. Driver was marking the trails for cross-country runners from the high school. Vehicle was moved.

4:06 p.m. — Caller reports a male party screamed at her several times while in Unity Park on First Street. He left the area in a black Volkswagen. Involved male called to report that the female opened the door to the portable restroom while he was inside. Officers spoke with both parties, situation mediated.

12:07 p.m. — Pedestrian complaining of bushes/weeds blocking the sidewalk on Montague City Road. Weeds are predominantly on the granite curb. Department of Public Works supervisor is responding to assess the situation.

10:05 p.m. — Reporting party from East Main Street requesting an officer respond for an issue with her neighbor. Reporting party advised the neighbor has been spitting on, sitting on, putting things on and throwing things at her vehicle as well as her boyfriend’s vehicle. She has some of the incidents on camera. Officer spoke advised the reporting party of options and attempted to make contact with the downstairs neighbor. No answer at the door.

Friday, Aug. 9

3:39 p.m. — Reporting party states that two people on Avenue A, a male and a female, are outside with open containers. Officer checked on the parties, no alcohol present. Individuals were found to be eating Cheerios out of a peanut container and drinking water out of a plastic container.

7:36 p.m. — Officer advising a sinkhole on Montague City Road has significantly degraded and needs to be barricaded or covered with a steel plate. Department of Public Works advised.
