Sheffield Elementary to host Vax Bus Nov. 29

TURNERS FALLS — The “Vax Bus” COVID-19 vaccine clinic is coming to Sheffield Elementary School on Monday, Nov. 29, from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Sponsored by the Department of Public Health, Franklin Regional Council of Governments (FRCOG) and school nurses, the clinic is free and open to the public. Vaccines are available for those ages 5 and older. Booster shots will also be available.

Slate Memorial Library hosting poetry reading

GILL — Poet and author Paul Mariani will read his poems at Slate Memorial Library, joined by guest poets Ginny Sullivan and Marina Goldman, on Thursday, Dec. 2, from 7 to 8 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public with limited seating. Masks are required.

Discovery Center hosting canalside Black Friday walk

TURNERS FALLS — A leisurely walk along the Canalside Rail Trail, called the “Go Green on Black Friday Walk,” will take place Friday from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

The walk, which will be around 3 miles long on a level, paved surface, will begin at the front entrance to the Great Falls Discovery Center, according to the center’s calendar of events. Inclement weather or icy trail conditions will cancel.

Immediately following the walk, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., members of Exploded View invite guests of all ages to bring a mat and pillow to the Great Hall, spread out on the floor and enjoy an ambient soundscape. Social distancing and masks are required.
