MILLERS FALLS — To celebrate Earth Day, the Millers Falls Community Improvement Association is asking locals to pick up any litter they may find while outdoors in Millers Falls.

Until April 24, locals are invited to post photos of themselves cleaning up trash on the Millers Falls Community Improvement Association’s Facebook page.

Electric vehicle charging rate being reduced

TURNERS FALLS — Rates for using the electric vehicle charging stations in municipal parking lots on Second and Sixth streets will be reduced from 30 cents per kilowatt hour to 25 cents.

The chargers were installed just over a year ago. Financially, they operated at a slight loss in their first year, according to Montague Town Planner Walter Ramsey.

On Monday, the Selectboard considered raising the rates so that the machines would at least break even, but ultimately decided to reduce rates, saying that a lower price might make them more attractive for drivers. Board members also noted that the last 12 months, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, should not be understood to be representative of a normal year.
