The Justice Department released a four-page summary of special counsel Robert Mueller’s nearly two-year Russia investigation. But U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Worcester, says that’s not enough.

“I want to read the report. The American people deserve to see the report in its entirety, not an abridged and censored version that (President Donald) Trump’s hand-picked attorney general provides us,” McGovern said on his way to a forum at Northampton High School Sunday with U.S. Sen. Ed Markey on the Green New Deal.

Markey shared similar sentiments.

“It’s not time to move on. It’s time to have the full report out there, so the American people can make a judgment,” he said. “We need to ensure that Congress gets all the documents, and through Congress, that the American people get all of the documents.”

According to the summary, written by U.S. Attorney General William Barr, Mueller concluded there was no evidence that Trump’s 2016 campaign conspired with the Kremlin.

At the same time, the report didn’t give a clear answer about whether or not Trump obstructed justice.

“The Special Counsel’s decision to describe the facts of his obstruction investigation without reaching any legal conclusions leaves it to the Attorney General to determine whether the conduct described in the report constitutes a crime,” Barr wrote in the letter, which was delivered to Congress.

In light of that, “We’re not going to stop demanding a full release of that report,” McGovern said. “I think the attorney general ought to be called to testify, and I think Mr. Mueller should be called to testify. Thirty-seven defendants were charged. Seven guilty pleas. One conviction, at a trial. That’s a serious matter.”
