ORANGE — A Ralph C. Mahar Regional School student will represent her school and her state at the Global Youth Summit on the Future of Medicine at Brandeis University.
Kacy Ninteau is one of 230 delegates selected from hundreds of applicants for the program taking place this week in Waltham, where Brandeis is located.
School Superintendent Tari Thomas said Ninteau, who could not be reached for comment, is from Orange and graduated from Mahar this spring. Thomas said Ninteau was one of the first Mahar students to sign up for the virtual high school program, choosing an advanced-placement psychology course in which she did all the side projects and enrichment opportunities that weren’t even included in the grade or main course content. Thomas said Ninteau also has delved into advanced-placement work in mathematics, science and social studies.
“Kacy is phenomenal on both academic and non-academic platforms,” Thomas said. “She consistently brings outstanding commitment and ability to her academic, civic and athletic endeavors. She is willing to take on both leadership and supportive roles in any arena and it is always accomplished with considerable grace and cheer.”
According to Brandeis, delegates to the summit will gain behind-the-scenes insight into the health care world through experiential learning, guest lectures and networking opportunities with leaders and innovators in the global medical community.
“The next generation of health care providers will practice in an environment hard to imagine just a few years ago. Leading-edge science is rapidly changing the daily practice of health care,” Dr. Steven Goldstein, chairman of the Global Youth Summit at Brandeis University and dean of the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University Chicago said in a statement. “We are in the midst of the most significant and fundamental change in health care delivery in our lifetime and young people who start now will be the future leaders in the field of medicine.”
