Senators downed by Keene

KEENE, N.H. — Playing without its leading scorer, the Mahar Regional girls basketball summer league team lost to Keene High School, 38-24, on Friday at Keene High School.

Courtney Page stepped up on offense for the Senators with 11 points and added three rebounds with two blocks.

Micalyn Mailloux missed the game for Mahar. She was scheduled for an AAU tournament in New Jersey but couldn’t travel due to a case of strep throat.

Jordan Fournier (five rebounds) and Delaney Parker got Mahar (2-2) going offensively with a couple early baskets at the rim.

The offense was scarce for the remainder of the half until Page got a 3-pointer to go with 3 minutes, 31 seconds left to cut the Keene lead to 13-8.

Page finished with three 3-pointers.

Keene ran a press that produced a host of turnovers. The Blackbirds led 18-11 at halftime.

Keene got going from the outside and built a 26-11 lead with nine minutes left in the game.

Natalie Belloli left the game in the second after rolling her left ankle but later played in the junior varsity contest.

MaryAnne Prescott added five points for Mahar. Haylee Allen had two points with four rebounds.

The Pioneer Valley junior varsity team beat Mahar Regional, 26-21 on Friday.

Sophia Walker had four points for the Panthers, including a backward shot through contact on the baseline in the second half.

Allen had six points for the Senators.

• In Tuesday’s game, Mahar’s varsity team lost to Hinsdale High School, 38-31.

Mailloux had 17 points for Mahar while Parker dished out eight assists. Allen grabbed 10 rebounds for Mahar.

In junior varsity action on Tuesday, Mahar defeated Pioneer Regional, 36-24.

Emma Bacigalupo, Ava Liberty, Jenna Bonenfant and Belloli all had seven points.
