ORANGE — Jon Gariepy tallied four rushing touchdowns to lead Mahar Regional School to a 44-0 drubbing over Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School in an assigned football game Friday night at the Woodward Complex.

After scoring two touchdowns in last week’s victory over Mohawk, Gariepy scored four times on runs of 36 yards, 35 yards, 10 yards and 5 yards as the Senators (3-7) earned their third straight win heading into a Thanksgiving showdown with Athol High School.

Pathfinder took the opening kick to start the game, but the drive stalled out after picking up one first down. Facing a fourth down, the Pioneers punted the ball to Gariepy who fielded the kick on a hop and ran the punt back 45 yards to the Pioneers’ 36-yard line. Gariepy didn’t wait long to score his first TD, taking his opening carry the 36-yards for his first score. Gariepy tacked on the extra point to give the Senators the 7-0 lead.

The Pioneers’ second drive found success picking up four first downs, but Mahar forced a turnover as Charlie Barnes stepped in front of a lobbed pass for an interception. Lucas Seney found traction on the ground for the Senators on their second drive, as he rumbled down the middle of the field before breaking a run to the outside picking up 24-yards. That set up Gariepy, who rrushed in from 10 yards out to give Mahar the 13-0 lead after the failed extra point.

Seney took matters into his own hands on the Senators’ third drive, breaking off a run of 57 yards to set up a first and goal opportunity. Seney scored his first of two touchdowns from 5 yards out to give Mahar the 19-0 lead. The Senators forced a three and out on the Panthers’ next possession and found the end zone right before the half on a 5-yard run by Gariepy for his third score of the half, giving the Senators a commanding 25-0 halftime lead.

Both Garipey and Seney added second-half touchdowns coming out of halftime as Gariepy scored on the opening possession on a run from 35 yards, and Seney scored on the Senators’ second possession on a 58-yard run down the sideline. Austin Matthews registered the final touchdown for Mahar, storming in from 20 yards out for the final points of the night.

Seney finished with 186 yards in the game on six carries, and Gariepy recorded 89 yards on 7 carries. Joey Brozell also played well for the Senators carrying the ball 10 times for 64 yards.

Mahar returns to action for its final game of the season against rival Athol High School on Thanksgiving with that game set to take place in Athol at 10:00 a.m.
