The long awaited MIAA baseball and softball tournament brackets were released on Wednesday.

The road to a championship in the Division 5 softball field goes through the defending state champs. Greenfield (15-5) earned the top seed in the bracket, and drew a bye into the Round of 32 where it awaits the winner of No. 32 Saint Bernard’s and No. 33 Holbrook.

Turners Falls (14-7) will also have the chance to host every game until the semifinals, earning the No. 3 seed in the Div. 5 field. The Thunder, which took home the Western Mass. Class D title on Tuesday, will meet the winner of No. 30 Bristol County Aggie and No. 35 Norfolk County Aggie.

Franklin Tech (17-4) and Frontier (6-14) earned automatic berths into the Round of 32. The Eagles are seeded No. 11 and will host No. 22 Bourne in the Round of 32. That game is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday. The Redhawks are seeded No. 15 and will host the winner of No. 18 Monson and No. 47 Community Charter School of Cambridge in the Round of 32.

Mohawk Trail (10-10) rounds out the local teams that qualified for the Div. 5 field. The Warriors, seeded 25th, will have a home game in the preliminary round when they will host No. 40 TechBoston Academy on Friday at 2:30 p.m. The winner will travel to No. 8 Drury for a Round of 32 tilt.

The Pioneer baseball team hopes to make another run at a Div. 5 title, where its 18-1 record earned it the No. 5 seed. The Panthers await the winner of No. 28 O’Bryant and No. 37 Mahar, with the Senators (10-9) earning a spot in the bracket thanks to their non-playoff win over Greenfield last Thursday.

Mahar will travel to Roxbury to take on the Tigers on Thursday at 3 p.m.

Frontier, the Western Mass. Class C champions, earned the No. 14 seed in the Div. 5 field. The Redhawks (15-6) will play host to No. 19 Upper Cape Cod RVT, with that Round of 32 contest slated for Sunday at 2 p.m.
