Traffic laws apply to bicyclists

Today I was driving on High Street in Greenfield and came to the lights at Silver Street, where I watched a bicycle rider cause confusion for those driving by in cars by driving through the red light heading down High Street. He did not hesitate or even think about it. He just ran a red light.

Now this is not the first time I have seen gentlemen on bikes run red lights, but they are usually on the right hand side of the road and continue through the intersection on the side of the road. I do not understand why bicycle riders feel they do not have to follow the same rules that everyone else on the road does.

Someone needs to tell bicycle riders they need to stop at red lights, use their hand signals when turning, and follow the same rules they would if they were driving a car. They do not own the road. Who do they think they are — Trump?

All folks traveling on the road have to follow the same rules before they cause an accident.
