Local food writer wins New England Book Festival award

“Love, Laughter, and Rhubarb” by Tinky Weisblat of Hawley was named best cookbook of 2018 last week by the New England Book Festival.

The book documents the author’s passion for an underappreciated New England food with recipes, stories and vintage illustrations.

“I’m pickled Tink,” Weisblat said of receiving the award. She said she looks forward to seeing the red shoots of rhubarb thrust their way out of the ground in her yard once the snow melts.

Weisblat will host the second annual Hawley Rhubarb Matinee at her home in Hawley on Saturday, May 25, from 1 to 4 p.m.
