Libraries across Franklin County are co-hosting a virtual training session on using Libby, the award-winning reading app from OverDrive, on Tuesday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

With a library card, community members can download Libby and access a wide selection of popular digital ebooks and audiobooks, according to a press release from Arms Library Director Laurie Wheeler.

“This is an amazing way to reach more people,” Wheeler said. “A person’s local library could be closed for the day, or it could be midnight and you are wide wake, or there could be a huge snowstorm. With Libby, you can access a wealth of reading and listening materials. And with our towns slowly working toward getting more equal internet access, more people will be able to make use of this service.”

In addition to the Arms Library in Shelburne Falls, the local libraries that are co-hosting the virtual training session are: M.N. Spear Memorial Library in Shutesbury, Tilton Library in South Deerfield, Erving Public Library, Dickinson Memorial Library in Northfield, Tyler Memorial Library in Charlemont, New Salem Public Library, S. White Dickinson Memorial Library in Whately, Sunderland Public Library, Griswold Memorial Library in Colrain, Warwick Free Public Library, Buckland Public Library, Cushman Library in Bernardston and Belding Memorial Library in Ashfield.

For more information or to register for the virtual Libby training session, contact your local participating library. The Arms Library can be reached at 413-625-0306 or armslibrary@gmail.com.
