More than 30 groups come together this Saturday, Jan. 18, for a free event called “Our Projects for 2025, Envisioning the World We Want,” at the Second Congregational Church, just off the Greenfield Common.
At 12:15 p.m. we begin with music and speakers who address issues of immigration, reproductive rights, peace, justice and human rights, the climate crisis and importantly, local mutual aid. This diversity of concerns and more will be knitted together by keynote speaker the Rev. Kate Stevens of Ashfield.
In the Community Hall, we will showcase these organizations that have grown over decades of engagement, and people can learn more about them. The public is invited to share in a simple lunch donated by participants.
Program planning began shortly after Nov. 5, with the election of a felon convicted by his peers for 34 crimes, to resist the 2025 agenda of the incoming president. He has gamed the system at every turn, aided by judges elevated by gutless Republicans, led by Mitch McConnell, aided by right-wing media.
Our Projects for 2025, by contrast, envision a brighter world. We stand in direct opposition to the MAGA extremists and their leaders. We envision a world where every person is valued, and the most vulnerable are protected; where childcare, health care and education are supported as critical to the general welfare. Where our Mother Earth is finally recognized and cared for as the only planet we have.
We invite the public to join us Saturday and help build a world that works for all of us.
