John Babits: Project 2025 garbage

I got a real kick out of a commercial I saw last night about Project 2025.

It was a trooper pulling over a man and his daughter. He asked where they were going, looked at a tablet, and said, “Abigail, right? You’re like eight weeks pregnant?”

He then proceeded to arrest them for “trying to escape motherhood.” It should be noted “Abigail” looked about 15 years old.

What’s so funny about it? It’s total nonsense.

Project 2025 is a construct of the Heritage Foundation. It’s a paper of draconian ideas like “pregnancy lists” and “abortions performed,” implying the government will keep track of women who are expecting babies.

Now the real problem is there are only two groups of people who believe this diatribe: extreme right-wing anti-abortion advocates, and, apparently, liberals, Democrat or not.

No one else buys into this nonsense. The DNC does, and makes sure to bring it up at every opportunity. But ask your Republican friends what they think of it, and they’ll tell you it’s a load of rubbish. There may be some good tenets in it somewhere. I couldn’t tell you. I stopped after reading about five pages of this garbage.

But what people fail to realize is that if the federal government does a complete takeover of health care in the U.S., then all that data mentioned in Project 2025 will be readily available to the government. So, if there is a takeover of health care in this country by a Democratic administration, then all this data will be available to any subsequent administration.

If you’re afraid of Republicans executing such a plan, you should be afraid of anyone doing so.

Think about that for a minute.
