The Solar Roller Earth Day River Ride, a protest of Northfield Mountain Pumped Storage (NMPS), will gather April 20 at 9 a.m. on the Greenfield Common. Join our bicycling, walking, (paddling anyone?) protest and rallies. Details at ctriverdefenders.org/spotlight/.

Celebrate Earth Day with action. Speak up loud and clear. Tell FirstLight we want their business out of our Connecticut River. Disconnect NMPS from our wonderful Connecticut River.

If FirstLight wants to keep its lucrative buy low, sell high electricity practice going for another 50 years, it must stop crippling our great river, no matter what. How? One way might be to add a lower reservoir to make it a closed loop system. That would stop the carnage.

As it is, what do we get? Electricity storage, dead fish, and the river running back-and-forth. It’s a horrible deal. The river pays the price. Get NMPS out of our river. Let the Quonektakut/Kwinetekw/Connecticut flow downstream, freely to the sea.
