Getting involved with climate crisis vital

I couldn’t agree more with columnist Russ Vernon-Jones [“Concerted people power needed to stem climate crisis,” Recorder, July 21]. We all need to take every action we can to reduce carbon emissions, now more than ever. Joining with others is a great idea, and so is letting our state and national representatives know that we care about this issue and are paying attention. It’s easy to feel ineffective on your own, but finding others to work with is empowering. There are lots of people and organizations working on actions to slow climate change — a few you may have heard of are the Sierra Club, 350.org, ThirdAct.org, the Audubon Society. All of these national organizations have Massachusetts chapters, so you can be involved at the national or the local level. And there are plenty of Massachusetts-based organizations, too. You could start by looking at the list on the Berkshire Environmental Action Team website. Just find one that’s right for you. So many people already working together. Let’s add our energy and voices to theirs!
