Edward Orzechowski: Irked by subhead in Newman Center article

It may be a small point in the greater scheme of things, but I’m troubled by the subhead of an article in the April 29 Daily Hampshire Gazette. “Newman Catholic Center gets a rebirth” was the main headline of a piece about Bishop William D. Byrne’s celebration of Mass and dedication of the chapel inside the new Newman Center at the University of Massachusetts. The subhead was: “Bishop celebrates first Mass in new spiritual digs, building officially opens in the fall.” Referring to a house of worship as “new spiritual digs” is hardly dignified.
