As the latest snowstorm recedes and driveways and sidewalks are cleared and power is restored our thoughts turn to spring. Flowers, planting leaves, mowing. My thoughts, such as they are, turn to the actions of the current leadership of what used to be called the GOP. These men and women are obsessed with woke and the culture wars. The road they really want us to take is the road to fascism. These are perilous times, times that demand vigilance and action to preserve what little we have left of democracy. They have declared open warfare on BIPOC people, LGBTQ people, the poor, women, immigrants and the list goes on. We must not be afraid, we must not waver in our cause. We must all fight for racial, social, economic and gender justice. Or else we will find ourselves waking up one day and not recognize the country we live in. How long will it take before we wake up? We had better wake up and soon!
