Racial paternalism in column

In Jon Huer’s column, “The art of the duel: How to really level the playing field,” (Recorder, Feb. 11) he essentially implies that Blacks and other races aren’t able to climb the social ladder because the rules aren’t tilted in their favor. In many of my “diversity credit” classes I took at Cornell University in the mid 2010s this is the same racist paternalism that the left wing professors decried. I’m just happy to see that the left side of the aisle has finally embraced their true nature by now rallying for racial paternalism rather than thinking Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, or any other ethnic group for that matter can rise through the ranks of life on their own accord an merit rather than with the white man’s help.
