Great Falls Creative Movement is offering children a chance to see what creative dance is all about through its annual winter open house.

The open house will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, with a free class for 5- and 6-year-olds from 10 to 11 a.m., and a free class for 3- and 4-year-olds from 11:15 a.m. to noon. Parents, siblings and caregivers are all welcome to participate.

Visitors to the studio, on the second floor of The Brick House at 24 3rd St. in Turners Falls, will have a chance to learn about the dance company’s winter programs while trying out a class.

Creative dance, rather than focusing on a specific set of steps, provides a concept-based framework for students to explore their own movements, explained Anna Hendricks, who founded Great Falls Creative Movement 10 years ago. Students learn how their bodies can move fast and slow, on balance and off-balance, big and small.

Great Falls Creative Movement offers a year-long creative dance program for children ages 3 to 12, as well as creative dance residencies and workshops at schools and community centers throughout Franklin County. To learn more, visit: greatfallscreativemovement.com.
