GREENFIELD — A 48-year-old man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after leaving the scene of a hit-and-run and leading police on a pursuit that ended in Deerfield.

Sujay Mooss, who is believed to be from Tennessee, was arrested and charged with failure to stop for police, leaving the scene of a hit-and-run and various other civil violations, according to Deputy Police Chief William Gordon.

Police responded at around 2:18 p.m. to a report of a hit-and-run on Bernardston Road involving another vehicle, Gordon said. The suspect was described as a white male driving a red SUV.

Police pursued the driver down Federal Street to Main Street, then River Street and Deerfield Street. Spike strips were placed at the intersection of Bernardston Road and Silver Street to puncture the vehicle’s tires, Gordon said.

Police ultimately stopped Mooss, who was driving a red 2021 Hyundai, near what was formerly The Bridal Barn & Tux Shoppe on Routes 5 and 10. No injuries were reported.
