Hannah Mackin found the back of the net twice in a five-minute span late in the first half to get the Frontier girls soccer team off and running. The Redhawks finished it off en route to a 5-0 win over Pioneer in an independent contest Monday at Herlihy Park in Whately.
Makayla Santos and Kylie Laford assisted on Mackin’s goals, which broke a scoreless game after 30 minutes.
Anna Petrin, Caroline Crocker and Jillian Worden all tallied in the second half. Josie Fosnot assisted on two of the strikes.
Frontier’s Cady Wells Robinson stopped both shots she faced for the clean sheet, while Pioneer keeper Sarah LaRocque recorded 10 saves.
Greenfield 3, Agawam 1 — All wins are important, particularly at this point in the season.
The Green Wave picked up another key Suburban League victory Monday night, holding off the Brownies 3-1 at Vets Field.
“Every win is a big one right now,” Greenfield coach Erin Thayer said. “We had a really strong all-around effort tonight. The girls played hard, we had some great passing lanes and the communication was good.”
Greenfield (7-5), which finished off the season sweep over Agawam, led 2-1 at halftime before Lucy Postera tacked on some insurance with a goal late in the third period.
Lillia Kachelmeyer and Maddy Kuchieski also scored for the Wave, and Kachelmeyer assisted on Kuchieski’s goal.
Ainslee Flynn made four saves in net, as Greenfield held a 12-5 edge in shots.
Next up is a Friday home game against Pioneer.
