Drew fills stat sheet for Senators

Quincey Drew had seven kills and four digs for the Mahar Regional volleyball team in a 3-0 win over Mohawk Trail in a Northern league match in Buckland on Thursday.

Set scores were 25-11, 25-14 and 25-18.

Madison Harrington served up five aces with 10 assists for Mahar while Ava Liberty added five kills. Saylor Kegans chipped in with four kills.

For Mohawk, senior Cassidy Upton had three kills, six digs and three aces. Hannah Plesnar had five kills, an assist and an ace and Octavia Crawford added two assists, five digs and three aces. 

Greenfield 3, Athol 1 — The Green Wave’s Kelsey Richardson had it going on the end line, finishing with nine aces and adding six kills to lead Greenfield to a 25-17, 25-19, 5-25, 25-23 Northern Division triumph over the Red Raiders in Greenfield. 

Denisse Montijo added three aces and eight assists in the win, Danicha Claudio drilled five kills and three aces and Gianna Conte had two kills and a dig. 

For Athol, Lexi Forte had 12 aces and eight assists, Katelyn Mahan had four digs and 12 kills and Lexi Carrasquillo finished with two aces and five kills. 

Sabis 3, Turners Falls 1 — It was a disappointing senior night for the Thunder, suffering a 25-23, 18-25, 20-25, 20-25 independent defeat to the Bulldogs. 

The three Turners seniors had strong games, as Hailey Bogusz finished with six kills, six aces, four assists; Dabney Rollins had seven kills, an ace and nine digs and Lindsay Whiteman had a kill, an ace and 18 digs. 

Longmeadow 3, Frontier 1 — Olivia Deane had a whopping 28 kills in Frontier’s 19-25, 22-25, 27-25, 19-25 Eastern Division home loss to the Lancers. 

Olivia Rosewarne dished out 25 assists in the loss and libero Reilly Isler came up with 23 digs in the losing effort. 

Boys soccer

Mahar Regional 4, Pioneer Valley Regional 0 – The James Temple and Riley Drew connection had it going early and often in the Senators’ road win over the Panthers.

The Senators struck first in the 13th minute after Drew dished to Temple, who found the back of the net. 

Drew struck again in the 27th minute to make it a 2-0 game going into the half. 

Temple then struck again in the 63rd minute. Minutes later, freshman Gavin Sullivan put one home for the final Mahar goal. 

Playing in their final games for the Panther soccer team, seniors Noah Keith and Jacob Quinn split time in goal, with Keith making eight saves and Quinn making two. 

St. Mary’s 4, Franklin Tech 3 — The Saints scored with one minute left in the game to give the Eagles a home loss in Tri-County play.

Sam Lashtur scored twice and added an assist for the Eagles, who took a 2-1 lead early in the second half.

Dylan Mallett also scored for Franklin Tech. Matt Regnier made 10 saves in net. Franklin Tech is already qualified for the postseason, and plays Smith Voke at home on Monday.

Greenfield 0, Granby 0 — The Wave are unbeaten in five straight games after a draw against the Rams on the road.

Defense ruled the match up against the Rams in McGrath league play.

Alex Carballo made five saves for Greenfield.

The Green Wave has senior night on Monday at home against Mohawk Trail.

Holyoke 3, Frontier 2 — After a home loss to the Purple Knights in Moriarty league play, the Red Hawks need to win all three games remaining on their schedule to qualify for the postseason.

Holyoke took the lead in the 67th minute and had to fight off several attempts by the Red Hawks to preserve the win.

Connor Waitkus and Emmett McGranaghan scored for Frontier.

James Morgan and Tanner Finch had helpers. Nick Jarvis made five stops.

Easthampton 3, Athol 0 — The Red Raiders were shut out on the road against the Eagles in in Schmid play.

Bryce King and Casey Mason combined to make 12 saves sharing time in net for Athol. 

Field Hockey

Mohawk 0, Turners Falls 0 — The Warriors and the Thunder had to settle for a draw in Buckland.

Maddie Gorrell made six saves for the Warriors while Haleigh Greene stopped seven shots for the Thunder in the Bi-County match up.

Senior Isis Moon played her final game for the Mohawk field hockey program.

Turners Falls is headed to the Division II tournament.
