The Pioneer, Mahar and Franklin Tech boys cross country teams traveled to South Deerfield to compete in a meet against host Frontier on Tuesday, with the host Redhawks earning a 15-50 win over the Senators and a 15-50 win over Franklin Tech. 

Pioneer beat Mahar, 19-36 and Franklin Tech, 15-50, while Mahar beat Franklin Tech, 15-50. 

Frontier’s Charlie Dennis was the first runner across the finish line with a time of 16 minutes, 25 seconds. Luke Howard, Evan Hedlund and Oliver Brown crossed at the same time as Dennis to take the next three spots in scoring. 

Adam Par (sixth, 17:13) and Caleb Libbey (eighth, 18:41) also finished in the top 10 for Frontier. 

Pioneer’s Ryan Spofford placed fifth (16:28) while fellow Panthers’ Lorenzo Bordas (seventh, 18:39), Camden Guertin (ninth, 18:46) and Eric Ballou (10th, 19:28) joined him in the top 10.

Franklin Tech's William Thomas placed 11th (20:09) while Mahar’s Solomon Burke came in 14th (21:01). 

In the girls race, Frontier’s Liv Christensen was the first runner to cross the finish line. Other results from the meet were not available at press time. 

Mohawk Trail 19, Easthampton 39 — Peter Healy (17:49), Aymeric Loucka (18:24) and Carson Richardson (18:25) were the first three runners to cross the finish line, leading the Warriors to a win over the Eagles on Tuesday in Easthampton.

Leo Boltz (sixth, 20:57), Aidan Gauthier (seventh, 21:26) and Gunnar Triggs (eighth, 23:48) also finished in the top 10 for Mohawk Trail.

Mohawk Trail 15, Hopkins 50 
Mohawk Trail 15, PV Christian 50
Mohawk Trail 25, Easthampton 30 —
Anya Read (second, 21:01), Virginia Krezmien (third, 21:26) and Natalie Lanoue (21:26) propelled the Warriors to a trio of wins in Easthampton on Tuesday. 

Hopkins’ Capnal DiBartolomeo was the winner with a time of 20:55. 

Boys soccer

Smith Vocational 5, Athol 1 — Josh Cole scored a pair of goals and distributed an assist to lift the Vikings to a victory over the Bears on Tuesday. 

Nigel Osei Kwatye had Athol’s lone goal. 

St. Mary’s 4, Franklin Tech 1 — Jackson Kotright-Clark scored the Eagles’ lone goal in a loss to the Saints on the road on Tuesday. 

Mason Thurston had the assist on Kotright-Clark’s tally. 

Frontier 2, South Hadley 0 — Eric Larsson broke the scoreless tie midway through the second half with a blast outside the box before the Redhawks added a second goal late to knock off the Tigers in South Deerfield Tuesday. 

Will Reading tallied Frontier’s second goal, blasting in a shot on a bouncing ball in the box. 

Smith Academy 7, Greenfield 1 — The Falcons put four goals in during the first half and tacked three on in the second half to roll past the Wave in Hatfield on Tuesday. 

Caleb Thomas scored off an assist from Chay Mojallali for Greenfield’s lone goal, with Liam Grahame-Lawson making five saves in the loss. 

Wahconah 7, Mahar 0 — Cooper Calvert went off for five goals in the Warriors’ win over the Senators in Dalton on Tuesday. 

Tristan Gaj made eight saves while Coltin Fausett made two saves for Mahar. 

Field hockey

Longmeadow 1, Frontier 0 — While the Redhawks finished with an 8-7 shot advantage, Frontier was unable to find the back of the cage while Longmeadow scored in the second half to defeat the Redhawks in Longmeadow on Tuesday. 

Kyra Richards made six saves for Frontier.

Minnechaug 6, Greenfield 1 — Gloria McDonald scored on a penalty stroke for the Green Wave’s lone goal of the game, as the Falcons picked up a Suburban League victory in Wilbraham on Tuesday. 

Alivia Grano scored a hat trick for Minnechaug, which outshot Greenfield 21-6. Kaydin Viencek made 15 saves for the Wave. 

Franklin Tech 4, Palmer 0 — The Eagle defense locked down the Panthers, not allowing a shot on goal, as Franklin Tech cruised to a victory on Tuesday in Palmer. 

Kenzie Sourdiffe-Phelps and Avery Heathwaite each tallied a pair of goals, with Heathwaite, Kailey Steiner and Katy Lengieza providing the assists. 

Girls volleyball

Mohawk Trail 3, Turners 2 — The Warriors fell down 2-0 early but stormed back to take the third and fourth sets to force a fifth. There, Mohawk Trail picked up a 15-13 set win to hand Turners its first Northern League loss since the new league formed with a 21-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-17, 15-13 victory in Buckland. 

Palmer King finished with 16 assists, eight kills and seven aces, Jadelyn Wheeler made 38 digs, Adrian Grant put down three kills while Emma Canaday had eight kills and two assists for Mohawk Trail. 

Athol 3, Pioneer 0 — Giana Vaillancourt put down seven kills and eight aces, Olivia Mayer recorded three kills and five aces while Evelyn Robinson and Morgan Brailey each finished with three aces in the Bears’ 25-16, 25-22, 25-17 triumph over the Panthers on Tuesday in Northfield. 

Mahar 3, Franklin Tech 1 — The Senators continued their strong start to the season with a 9-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-20 victory over the Eagles in Turners on Tuesday. 

Turin Gurganus put down five aces and two kills, Madelynn Burgess finished with five aces and seven assists while Angelina Alonso and Mckenzie Scribner each had three aces for Mahar. Breanna Kempf (one ace, three digs), Emma Little (four assists) and Amelia Rider (two kills, two digs) played well for Franklin Tech. 

Golf

Belchertown 154, Frontier 158 — Brady Wood tied for the overall low score of the day with a 37 for the Redhawks, but it was the Orioles that squeaked out a win at Cherry Hill on Tuesday. 

Ryan Cetto (39) and Porter Hall (40) joined in on the scoring while Cam Skiffington, Addy Wood and Jacob Cornelison each shot a 42 for Frontier. 

Franklin Tech 171, Easthampton 192 — Jack Day was the match medalist with a 38, leading the Eagles to a victory on Tuesday at Thomas Memorial. 

Will Belval (39), Grady Deery (41) and Braeden Talbot (53) closed out the scoring for Franklin Tech. 

Pioneer 184, Hopkins 199 — Ben Werner was the match medalist with a 39 while Ethan Mauthe shot a 45, lifting the Panthers past the Eagles at Northfield Golf Club Tuesday. 

Brayden Thayer (47) and Cam Curtis (53) also scored in the win. 

Mohawk Trail 193, St. Mary’s 217 — Logan Moore carded a 45 while Phineas Tuttman shot a 48 in the Warriors’ victory over the Saints at Country Club of Greenfield Tuesday. 

Conner Bergeron, Douglas Wilcox and Sam Mizula all shot a 50 for Mohawk Trail.

Girls soccer

Frontier 15, Mahar 0 — Skyler Steele scored four goals and dished an assist, Maddie Fagan tallied three goals and three assists while Faythe Sobieski and Carly Robertson each scored twice in the Redhawks triumph in South Deerfield Monday. 

Maggie Nichols (two assists), Claire McFarland, Addy Morrey and Calli Gifford also scored for Frontier. Jaya McBroom made 25 saves for Mahar.
