HEATH — Are you getting cabin fever in Internet-less Heath?

A new “Internet cafe” is opening Saturday — and with live music, too.

The inaugural Heath Community Cafe will open its doors on Jan. 27, from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. with free Dean’s Beans coffee, the town’s “Middle Mile” broadband and music for dobro and bass by John Clark and Dennis Avery, who call themselves “The Uncles of the Pioneers” for this premiere gig.

The cafe is housed in the town’s senior center space, on the lower level of the Heath Community Hall. Sponsored by the Selectboard, the purpose is to provide residents with a gathering place as they come into town center on Saturday mornings, to get their mail or visit the library.

For now, the cafe is scheduled for a limited run for four Saturdays, through Feb. 17, so that organizers can see whether there’s enough community interest to continue. Those with questions about the cafe may call 337-4078.
