CHARLEMONT — Lindsay E. Rodriguez, who taught at the Hawlemont Regional School about six years ago, has returned this fall as its new principal.
“My vision for Hawlemont would be to continue the agriculture program that is well underway,” Rodriguez wrote in a letter to apply for the job. She said she hoped to help the staff integrate more math and literacy into the agriculture program.
“I feel I would be an excellent candidate for the Hawlemont position, as I know the school, have a positive relationship with the staff and students, and am a knowledgeable teacher not only in science and math, but in reading as well.”
Rodriguez comes to Hawlemont with a Master of Arts in teaching and with three letters of reference from former Hawlemont principals Joanne Giguere, Emma Liebowitz and from school parent Dana Cusimano.
Rodriguez worked a year at Hawlemont and then at the Buckland-Shelburne Elementary School for an additional four years. She was also a special education teacher during a summer program at Colrain Central School in 2017. Her most recent job was working as a first-grade teacher at the Northville Elementary School in Connecticut.
“We are thrilled that Principal Rodriguez has rejoined the Hawlemont team as its educational leader, said Hawlemont Superintendent Michael Buoniconti. “I am very confident that Lindsay will help us guide Hawlemont and its agriculturally based curriculum to the next level of excellence.”
