Mohawk Trail’s Natalie Lanoue knocked down a 3-pointer just before the halftime horn sounded to give the Warriors a 19-11 lead over the Athol girls basketball team on Monday. 

The momentum carried through the second half for Mohawk Trail. 

The Warriors outscored the Bears 17-6 in the third quarter and shut Athol out in the fourth, as Mohawk Trail pulled away with a 53-17 victory in Buckland. 

Lanoue led the way with 18 points in the win. Zephyr Jetzon tossed in 14 points, Bella Pettengill scored eight points while Valerie Bzomowski added five points for the Warriors. 

Madi Hermes recorded eight points, Ava Martin scored six points while Emily King added three points in the loss for Athol. 

Quaboag 43, Mahar 33 — Thea Whitmore finished with 14 points for the Sens, who fell to Quaboag on Monday in Orange. 

Taylor Paluk scored 10 points while Hayden Comeau tallied seven points in the loss.

Greenfield 2, Monty Tech 1 — Cooper Smith stopped 21 of the 22 shots he faced on Saturday, helping the Green Wave earn an independent victory on the road. 

Brady Poreda found the back of the  net, Luca Siano scored and dished an assist while Shawn Baumann added an assist in the win. Jake Jurek also added an assist, putting him at 99 points during his Greenfield career. 

Wrestling

Quabbin 48, Mahar 36 — Abduli Gilmore (113), Elias Roberts (138) and Eujeyn Smith (157) won via pin for the Senators on Saturday in a loss to Quabbin. 

BC High 60, Mahar 23 — Orion Whitehouse (120) and Dante Dowler (150) won via pin while Gilmore won via technical fall as the Sens fell to BC High Saturday. 

DA results

The Deerfield Academy boys basketball team knocked off Avon Old Farms, 53-49, on Friday but followed it with a 73-58 loss to Williston on Saturday. 

Here are the remainder of the DA results from the weekend: girls hockey beat  Lawrenceville (5-1), boys hockey knocked off Salisbury (5-2), boys squash beat Phillips Exeter (7-0) and Belmont Hill (7-0) while girls basketball fell to Miss Porter’s (61-53).
