The McCann Tech golf team came into the Country Club of Greenfield with an unbeaten record, though Mohawk Trail nearly handed it its first loss of the season. 

McCann Tech finished with a score of 171 and the Warriors finished just five strokes shy, with the Hornets escaping with a 171-176 victory. 

Conner Bergeron carded a 40, Phineas Tuttman and Logan Moore each shot a 43 while Douglas Wilcox and Tyler Zdanowicz each finished with a 50 for Mohawk Trail. 

Franklin Tech 165, Pioneer 170 — Entering the match at Thomas Memorial on Wednesday, the Eagles held a 6-1 record in the Bi-County East League while the Panthers were a perfect 7-0. Being the final league match of the regular season for both teams, Tech needed a win to earn a share of the league title. 

The Eagles did just that. Jack Day was the match medalist with a 37, Gabe Mota shot a 41, Will Belval carded a 42 while Grady Deery came in with a 45, leading Franklin Tech to a victory and allowing it to share the league title with Pioneer. 

Ben Werner (38), Brayden Thayer (42), Ethan Mauthe (43) and Mike Cyhowski (47) scored for Pioneer. 

Easthampton 192, Turners 222 — Darian Burnett led the way with a 48 in the Thunders’ loss to the Eagles at Holyoke Country Club Wednesday. 

Liam Kerivan (57), Austin Smarr (58) and Cam Cogswell (59) scored for Turners.

SICS 3, Athol 0 — Giana Vaillancourt had five kills, two assists, four digs and four aces while Olivia Mayer recorded four kills in the Bears’ 25-14, 25-10, 25-21 loss to the Bulldogs on Wednesday in Springfield. 

Ella Reed added one kill, four assists, two aces and two digs in the loss. Athol JV lost, 3-0. 

Deerfield Academy results

Both the Deerfield Academy boys and girls soccer teams were in action Wednesday, with the DA girls earning a 2-1 win over NMH while the Big Green boys tied Westminster, 1-1.

Frontier 5, Pathfinder 1 — The Redhawks scored all five of their goals in the first half to cruise to a victory over the Pioneers in South Deerfield Tuesday. 

TJ Donovan, Ian Paciorek, Grayden Gifford, Adrien Pazmandy and Henry Pleasant were the Froniter goal scorers, with Tavo Vincent-Warner, Max Millette, Diego Frazier and Gus Radner providing the assists. Jack Cusson made three saves in the victory. 

Volleyball

Mohawk Trail 3, Athol 0 — Palmer King had four kills, nine aces, nine digs and eight assists while Emmalee Inman tallied three kills and one ace in the Warriors win over the Bears Tuesday. 

Emma Canaday put down four kills and two aces whie Jade Wheeler came up with 14 digs and dished an assist in the victory.
