Greening Greenfield offering group paddle in PlainfieldEcologists and naturalists Patricia Serrentino and Alex Haro will lead a paddle around Plainfield Pond on Route 116 during a Greening Greenfield event planned for Sunday, June 4, from 9 to 11 a.m.
During the paddle, participants will search for the plants, birds, fish and other animals that reside in and around the pond. Binoculars and polarized sunglasses will be helpful but are not required; life jackets are required; and insect repellent is strongly suggested.
Participants are asked to bring their own canoe or kayak. Due to limited parking (six-vehicle maximum), Greening Greenfield organizers recommend carpooling. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
To sign up, email Edie Heinemann at ediesh82346@gmail.com. Write, “I wish to join the June 4 paddle,” and answer these questions:
■What are the name(s), phone number(s) and email address(es) of the participants?
■Will you be bringing one or two boats?
■Can you load two boats on your vehicle?
■Are you willing to accommodate someone else’s boat on your vehicle?
Participants will meet at 8 a.m. at Home Depot on Route 2 in Greenfield to carpool. The event is free and will be canceled by heavy rain.
