GREENFIELD — In celebration of Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” releasing on Friday, the Garden Cinemas is hosting a cosplay contest.

The contest invites moviegoers to dress as Barbie, Ken or any other character from the Barbie universe prior to the film’s 6:30 p.m. showing on Friday. Costumes will be judged at 6 p.m.

The first-place winner will receive a one-night stay at the Green River Bridge Inn in Guilford, Vermont, which is “the Garden’s idea of a Barbie Dream House,” according to the Main Street theater’s event announcement.

“Guests can enjoy the sights and sounds of a waterfall and meandering stream each morning and relax by the fire pit in the evening after a day of exploring nature trails and swimming in pristine pools,” the announcement reads. “The historic inn features farm-fresh, locally sourced breakfasts and artisanal picnic baskets, a holistic health spa, outdoor cultural events ... and creative retreats.”

The second-place winner’s prize is an ode to “Barbie’s favorite touchstone fashion,” according to the event announcement. The contestant will be awarded a free consultation and garment upgrade from Turners Falls fashion studio Pixxie & Co.

“When we saw August’s presentation at the [Take the Floor pitch competition] we knew Pixxie was the perfect partner for upgrading Barbie’s fashion sense for a new generation,” said Garden Cinemas co-owner Isaac Mass.

The third-place winner will receive a “Barbie date night” at the Garden that includes two free tickets, popcorn and fountain soda.
