Summer camp registration now open

The Recreation Department’s summer camps offer playground time, swimming time, games, and arts and crafts activities daily. Field trips and special guests are planned to coincide with each themed week. Daily lunches and morning snacks are provided. Age groups will participate in both separate and joint activities during the day. In the event of rain, camp is held at Greenfield Middle School. Department seeks summer help

Lifeguards and tennis instructors are needed for the summer. Applicants must be 16 or older. Apply at greenfieldrecreation.com/employment.html or stop by the Recreation Department’s offices at 20 Sanderson St. to pick up an application.

May 3: First Movie in the Park of 2024

The first Movie in the Park of the season, featuring “Trolls Band Together,” will be held at Beacon Field on Friday, May 3, at 8:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by Franklin First Federal Credit Union.

Third annual Cornhole Tournament set for Saturday

The Recreation Department’s third annual Cornhole Tournament to raise money for the Independence Day fireworks display will be held Saturday, May 4, at 3 p.m. at Court Square. The cost is $50 per team of two. All skill levels are welcome. There will be prizes for first, second and third place, as well as food trucks, a DJ, raffles and more. Tee-ball registration now open

Registration for tee-ball is open and there is space available for children in kindergarten through second grade (entering in the fall). The season begins on Saturday, May 4, and ends on June 8. All practices take place at Lunt Field, on Saturdays from 8:30 to 10 a.m. The cost for residents is $50 and non-residents pay $60.

Buddy Baseball starts May 11

Celebrating its 30th year, Buddy Baseball is a program for children and adults with disabilities, ages 6 and up. Each player has a peer buddy who assists with skills the player cannot perform. The program is designed to teach and practice the basic skills of softball and baseball. Games will be played May 11 to June 15. The program will conclude on June 22 with the final game and pizza party at the Green River Swimming and Recreation Area. Buddies and coaches are needed.

Mutts and Mayhem set for May 19

Bring your dog to Mutts and Mayhem at the Green River Swimming and Recreation Area on Sunday, May 19, for an obstacle course designed for humans and their canine companions. Mutts and Mayhem participants will run or walk, jump or hop, swim or splash to get through the course. Visit runsignup.com/Race/Events/MA/Greenfield/MuttsMayhem for more information.
