‘Stitching Palestine’ to be shown at All Souls Church

GREENFIELD — Kairos/Franklin County Justice for Palestine is sponsoring a free screening of the documentary, “Stitching Palestine,” on Thursday, June 2, at 7 p.m. at All Souls Church, 399 Main St.

The film, produced by Palestinian/Lebanese filmmaker Carol Mansour, tells the story of 12 Palestinian women from various walks of life whose lives are connected by the ancient art of embroidery. The women stitch together the story of their homeland, their dispossession and their determination that justice will prevail. A number of embroidery examples will be on display at the church.

The group, Kairos/Franklin County Justice for Palestine, takes its name from the Greek word that translates roughly as “a time ripe for change,” according to an event press release. It became a rallying cry for those opposing the Apartheid regime in South Africa and has been taken up by Palestinians in their similar struggle for justice.
