Local playwright sharing work in progress at LAVAGREENFIELD — Christine Benvenuto will share her play in progress, called “Destination Wedding,” on Thursday, Aug. 25, at The LAVA Center, located at 324 Main St.
The play, according to a LAVA Center press release, uses humor and absurdist elements to explore the issues of race, culture and class, mental illness and suicide, and family secrets.
Musical trio Vimana to perform outside LAVA CenterGREENFIELD — As part of the monthly Greenfield Arts Walk on Friday, Aug. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m., musical trio Vimana will perform outside The LAVA Center at 324 Main St.
Vimana is an instrumental jazz-rock trio based in western Massachusetts, featuring Brian Rodrigues on bass, Bruce Todd on drums and Leo Hwang on guitar.
Monthly brown bag distribution set for Sept. 1 GREENFIELD — The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts’ monthly brown bag program for qualifying seniors will be held Thursday, Sept. 1, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Greenfield Senior Center at 35 Pleasant St.
According to a notice from Senior Center Activities Director Kathy Dunn, seniors who receive fuel assistance, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits or other benefits will qualify. To apply, call the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts at 413-247-9738. Applications are also on hand at the Senior Center.
