GREENFIELD — The Garden Cinemas has partnered with sponsor USA Waste & Recycling of Hatfield and Universal to offer “Monstober,” a month of recycling classic Universal monster movies from the golden age of cinema.

The horror franchise that ran from the 1930s through the 1950s created pop culture icons that remain relevant today, according to a Garden Cinemas press release. As late as 2020 with the release of Elisabeth Moss’ “The Invisible Man,” Universal has been reimagining these characters.

“Without these films, you would not have fan favorites like ‘Teen Wolf,’ or critically acclaimed films like the 2017 Best Picture winner ‘The Shape of Water,’” said Garden Cinemas co-owner Isaac Mass.

The classic monster movie titles will play one time each on Monday and Wednesday nights starting Sept. 27, and running all month long. “Dracula” will get a special encore screening the week before Halloween, the release states.

The monster movie schedule is:

■“Mummy” (1932) Monday Sept. 27, starring Boris Karloff

■“The Invisible Man” (1933) Wednesday, Sept. 29, starring Claude Rains

■“The Wolf Man” (1941) Monday, Oct. 4, starring Claude Rains with Bela Lugosi

■“Phantom of the Opera” (1943) Wednesday, Oct. 6, starring Nelson Eddy and Susanna Foster with Claud Rains

■“Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein” (1948) Monday, Oct. 11, starring Bela Lugosi and Lon Chaney Jr.

■“Creature from the Black Lagoon” (1954) Wednesday, Oct. 13, starring Richard Carlson and Julia Adams

■“Frankenstein” (1931) Monday, Oct. 18, starring Colin Clive and Boris Karloff

■“Bride of Frankenstein” (1935) Wednesday, Oct. 20, starring Elsa Lanchester, Colin Clive and Boris Karloff

■“Dracula” (1931) Monday Oct. 25, and Wednesday, Oct. 27, starring Bela Lugosi

Additionally, among the Garden Cinemas’ new releases for October are “Halloween Kills,” “Antlers,” “Last Night in Soho,” “Marvel’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage” and the animated “Addams Family 2.”

Advance tickets can be purchased at the box office or at gardencinemas.net.
