Friday, February 09, 2018

These epaulettes were made from imported British or European materials in 1778. They were part of a military uniform worn by Colonel Elisha Porter (1742-1796) of Hadley, an important example of a late 18th-century officer’s uniform, owned and worn in the Connecticut River Valley. Gift of the Cooley Family, Hartford, Conn., direct descendants of Col. Elisha Porter.
