TURNERS FALLS — The Cool Rides Car Show cruises back to Franklin County Technical School on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This is the 12th year that Franklin Tech has hosted the event at its 82 Industrial Blvd. campus, with a two-year hiatus because of the pandemic. General admission and participating vehicle registration is free, and will be done only on the day of the show.

The car show is open to all vehicles, including cars, trucks and motorcycles. It even featured a lawnmower outfitted with a chrome engine and fancy wheels last year.

Organizers will present Top 25 Favorite Rides plaques made by students in the school’s Advanced Manufacturing Program and one People’s Choice trophy for best in show, sculpted by the students in the Welding and Metal Fabrication Program.

Car show participants and attendees have mostly come from Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Connecticut. It is a tobacco-free campus and no pets are allowed.

Franklin Tech’s Culinary Arts Program will serve food such as hamburgers, hot dogs, snacks and soft drinks, as well as homemade selections.
