It was a Super weekend for three Franklin County youth football teams.

The Suburban Amateur Football League held its Division 2 Super Bowls at Agawam High School on Saturday, and three local teams hoisted trophies after winning their respective divisions.

Frontier Youth Football captured titles in the Senior Division and PeeWee Division, while the Franklin County Bulldogs were victorious in the Junior Division.

Seniors

Frontier 26, Northampton 6

The RedHawks were led by three electric touchdowns by Riggins Kopcza, who also forced a fumble and had a game-ending interception on defense against Northampton.

Caden Washburn led the offensive attack through the air with a touchdown, and Prestyn Petrizzi-Richmond ended the Hawks’ scoring on a reverse touchdown run. Kimmie Taylor led all runners with 100 yards on 12 carries.

The defense saved its best for last, holding Northampton to under 100 yards of total offense. Landen Lavallee led the unit with seven tackles and a sack, and the squad received big efforts from Gavin Hale, Jordon Wentzel, Chase Greene, Colton Bysiewski, Alden Dacus, Conner Shelton, EJ Houlberg, Harry Doody and Ryder Savage, who also recovered a fumble. Jack Herzig, Henry Wood and Zach Brown played well on special teams to help Frontier cap a perfect 10-0 season.

The Franklin County Junior Bulldogs closed out a perfect 10-0 season with a SAFL Div. 2. Super Bowl championship after beating South Hadley, 20-0, in the title game on Saturday at Agawam High School. 

Benjamin Woodard opened the scoring with a nine-yard touchdown run. Jackson Puchalski ran one in from five yards out and Avery Lococo added the 2-point try. Collin Winslow had a pick six in the second half to close out the scoring. 

Puchalski ran for 71 yards, Wes Darling had 15 tackles and three sacks, Treyvon Ndissi recovered a fumble, Declan Thompson had an interception while Liam Gould made six tackles in the victory. 

PeeWees

Frontier 30, Franklin County 6

The Frontier PeeWees won the program’s 20th consecutive game, taking down the Franklin County Bulldogs on Saturday in the Super Bowl.

Frontier quarterback Johnny Stansiewski opened the scoring on a TD run, then hit Lane Kicza for the two-point conversion. Brock Puchalski broke off a 48-yard TD run for the Bulldogs, and the Hawks led just 14-6 at halftime.

Frontier’s offensive line stepped up in the second half, led by Jack Mason at center, opening holes for running back Barrett Kicza to score a pair of TDs. Running backs Ryan Washburn and Kyree Petrizzi Richmond also provided multiple explosive plays. Frontier linemen Braydon, Logan Elias, Carson Clark and Cal Rose also played well in the win.

Lennon Pleasant, Mason Rose, Bouden Calhoun and Bodhi Dark delivered several key tackles for Frontier, and the team forced a key fumble in the third quarter. Ultimately, Stanisewski tallied another rushing TD and hit Ryan Washburn on the two-point pass to help seal the deal.

Jace Brunelle, Majer Rodriguez and Gavin Keene led the way on defense for the Bulldogs.

Greenfield Touch League

Sirum 12, Namaste Rockets 6 – Fifth-seeded Sirum used a 50-yard TD catch and run from Malcolm Smith to Parker Hickey, and then Chris Hart hauled in the winning TD catch to move Sirum to the semifinals.

The fourth-seeded Rockets tied the score up early with an 8-yard TD pass from Jordan Markham to Tyler Charboneau before being denied scoring chances by a tough Sirum defense.

J&J Athletics 14, Blitzing Bears 0 – Third-seeded J&J used a stingy defense to turn aside the No. 6 Bears. QB Mak Rodgers hooked up with RJ Byrd and Pat Clancy to punch a semifinal ticket, and Clancy grabbed an extra point as well. The Bears moved the ball with Damian Vennell, Nick Kahan, and WaWa Perry having strong games in a losing effort.

Titans 35, Namaste Pink Panthers 6 – Titans QB Julio Riviera threw for four TDs and ran for two more to lead the second-seeded Titans into the semis.

Josh Dixon had three TDs and Tony Suggs also scored, while Luis Aventura, Luis Roman, Reni Baez, and Calvin Roman combined for 12 sacks on defense.

Panthers QB Jared Hart scampered in for the team’s lone TD. The Panthers also got strong play from Dan Jenks, Thomas Swindell and Anthony Kerivan.

The semis are set for Sunday: Titans vs. J&J Athletics at 10 a.m. and then Gill CC Woodworking vs. Sirum at 11: 15 a.m.

Youth hockey

FCHA 10U results

FCHA 4, Westfield 3 – Two goals and an assist from Samuel Edson propelled the FCHA 10U East squad to a 4-3 win over Westfield in action on Saturday at Amelia Park Arena in Westfield.

Braith Brothers scored a goal and an assist for FCHA, and Charles Barbato also found the back of the net. Emerson Snow, Nicholas Brisson and Aiden Baldwin all added assists in the win.

Westfield 5, FCHA 3 – Brisson, Andrew Quintana and Finnegan Connelly all scored goals in Sunday’s rematch, as FCHA dropped a 5-3 decision on the road.

Brothers, Lucas Edson and Quintana were all credited with assist for FCHA.
