GREENFIELD — The 2018 Franklin County Fair seeks contestants to compete in a variety of activities during the fair on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8 and 9.
The contests will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
On Saturday, there will be a kids power wheels demolition derby beginning at 2:30 p.m. Two age groups can participate, ages 3 to 5 and 6 to 8. There is a $5 entry fee.
At 3:30 p.m., the third annual hot dog eating contest will start, from Tom’s Famous Long Hot Dog and Grill of Whately. Contestants must be 13 or older. There will be prizes for the first- through third-place winners.
The second annual youth trivia challenge is on Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. The teams must consist of four members, ages 13 through 18. Participants will answer general trivia questions. Prizes are for first through fourth place.
On Sept. 9, the second annual fried dough eating contest, by Hager’s Farm Market, will begin at 3:30 p.m. There are two age groups – 8 to 12 years old and 13 or over. There will be prizes for first through third place.
