GREENFIELD — In an effort to make shopping locally easier and more rewarding this holiday season, the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce has launched a revamped Franklin County Gift Card program that supports a growing list of small businesses with every swipe.

“The Franklin County Gift Card is not just a gift; it’s an investment in our community,” Jessye Deane, executive director of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, said in a statement. “There is unlimited potential with this gift card program and the amount of money we can keep floating around Franklin County, benefiting businesses and residents alike.”

The upgraded gift card program, operated using a new vendor to make it more accessible for users and easier for merchants to manage, reinforces the chamber’s mission to promote economic growth and foster small business success. Powered by Swipe It, the revamped gift card offers round-the-clock support for users and merchants — an improvement over the previous system, which relied on Deane to resolve technical issues.

“We completely overhauled the program to simplify participation for local businesses and make purchasing cards more convenient for residents,” she explained.

With the new system, Franklin County Gift Cards can now be purchased online, by phone and at the chamber offices, located at 79 Old Main St. in Deerfield. The previous iteration of gift cards could only be purchased in person.

Chris Sellers, co-owner of The Brewery at Four Star Farms in Northfield, expressed his enthusiasm for the gift card program.

“The Brewery at Four Star Farms is so excited to be participating in the new Franklin County Gift Card program, encouraging local residents and visitors to support our local Franklin County business community,” Sellers said in a statement. “Supporting our local business community has been one of our core values since we opened, and this gift card program continues those goals, showcasing the diverse and vibrant small businesses all over the county to visitors from near and far.”

The Brewery at Four Star Farms is among the businesses that are currently accepting the Franklin County Gift Card, a list that is growing daily, according to Deane. The chamber encourages additional local businesses to join.
