GREENFIELD — As the final weekend of “Light Up the Fairgrounds” approaches, organizers are taking advantage of the fresh snow to offer an extra night of the drive-thru holiday light show tonight, Dec. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m.

“Mother nature brought us a winter wonderland that is just too beautiful to miss,” reads a post on the Franklin County Fairgrounds’ Facebook page.

The second annual event features 36 entries competing for the year’s best display and raising money for the fairgrounds, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Franklin County and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Regional Dog Shelter. The show’s proceeds are donation-based, with each carload of people asked to give a minimum of $5.

Light Up the Fairgrounds opened the weekend of Nov. 26. After tonight, its final three days are Dec. 10 to Dec. 12, from 5 to 9 p.m.
