GREENFIELD — When it comes to a wedding, many couples feel like the details count, from the photos to the DJ to the floral arrangements.

Becky Guyer, owner of Floral Affairs on Deerfield Street, said that in the day and age of reviews online, winning the Couples’ Choice Award for Springfield-area businesses from WeddingWire Inc., an online wedding marketplace, is very meaningful.

“It’s so important to us,” Guyer said. “Word of mouth is huge and reviews are one way for that to happen. Reviews from WeddingWire, Yelp, Google — even the bad ones — are helpful for us. The good reviews are what won us this. It’s like a positive bright light after a long day of work.”

The criteria for the award is based on the number of stars a business has received. Floral Affairs has a 4.8 average, according to Guyer, who added that her business has won about six or seven times in the 11 years the flower shop has been open.

“It’s great to see the reviews from weddings or events from people who enjoyed working with us,” Guyer said. “It’s hard to see the end result of the day, but when we see the reviews, they give us photos and the complete picture. We also learn how we can make it better for the next bride, but also how we can make things easier for the photographer, the venue, the DJ.”

Guyer said Floral Affairs also offers a DIY night, where a florist instructs a bride and their bridesmaids how to make bouquets.

In a review on WeddingWire, Elizabeth Conniff said she had unforeseen circumstances that led to searching for a florist with less than two months before her event. Floral Affairs came to her rescue.

“From the first phone call, Becky was incredible,” Conniff wrote. “She called back in minutes and took on the task with an awesome sense of humor and understanding. Our consultation was friendly, efficient and honest. I was on a tight budget and we figured out the options that would work best without pressure for extras. And the bouquets were gorgeous.”

Another review from Lexi Hulbert said, “Floral Affairs did the flowers for my wedding back in October of 2018 ... If you need wedding flowers in this area, I would recommend (Becky). She sat down with us in her shop and let us tell her exactly what we wanted, and delivered them on time to my venue on the wedding day.”

WeddingWire annually celebrates the top wedding professionals across more than 20 service categories, from venues and caterers to florists and photographers. According to a WeddingWire press release, these vendors exhibit professionalism, responsiveness, service and quality when interacting with the five million monthly consumers who turn to WeddingWire to help ease their wedding planning process.

WeddingWire features more than three million reviews, and the honored vendors all received prompt, reliable and quality feedback, according to the release.

“We are celebrating our 11th annual Couples’ Choice Awards, where we honor our vendors who help make millions of couples’ big day one to remember,” said Timothy Chi, CEO of WeddingWire. “Not only are these hard-working and distinguished wedding professionals, such as Floral Affairs, a fundamental part of the wedding planning process for engaged couples, but they help make WeddingWire a trusted source for wedding planning. We congratulate everyone on this well-deserved achievement.”
