Firefighters rescue man in logging accident

HEATH — Heath and Colrain first-responders rescued a man whose leg was pinned by a fallen limb in a logging accident Friday morning.

According to Heath interim Fire Chief Nick Anzuoni, a man was logging in the woods near Ingraham Drive, near Burrington Road, when a log snapped, pinning his leg. The man lost his balance, breaking his leg in a few places, according to Anzuoni, who is also Colrain’s fire chief.

Colrain Ambulance, supported by Heath Fire and EMTs, transported the man to the Heath Fairgrounds, where he was picked up by LifeFlight helicopter and transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. The accident occurred around 9:30 a.m. Friday.
