MONTAGUE CENTER — The First Congregational Church of Montague will hold its annual Fete Noel Fall Festival Fair for the first time since 2019 on Saturday.

The fair, which will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., will feature crafts, a secondhand clothing sale, food prepared at the church and drawings for prizes. All proceeds will be donated to local and worldwide mission groups.

Church member and fair organizer Ann Fisk said the event has been something the church has put on “easily since the 1970s.” She is optimistic the decades-old tradition can bounce back strong in its first year since the COVID-19 pandemic started.

“We hope it’s a little more than a bazaar,” she said.

One of the aspects of the fair Fisk looks forward to is the sheer quantity of secondhand clothing that will be on sale.

“We’ve got a room full of used clothing in great condition,” she said.

She also praised the selection of food and drinks that will be prepared in-house, including coffee, muffins, doughnuts, and a lunch spread of corn chowder, gluten-free vegetable soup, sandwiches and pumpkin roll.

Regardless of why people might want to come, Fisk said serving the organizations that will benefit from the fundraiser should be incentive enough. Groups benefiting from donations will include the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, the University of Massachusetts housing office and NEADS World Class Service Dogs. In the past, the fair has raised $2,000 to $3,000 each year, according to Fisk.

“I hope some people just come to support,” she said.
